Job Stories From Corvallis, OR
Basement Apartment with Flooding - Corvallis, OR

This basement was rented out as a an apartment, and within the last year it had flooded twice. They had a plumber out to examine the space, but no plumbing issues were found, so they called up John's Waterproofing to see where the issue was. During our inspection we found water was coming in through where the foundation wall meets to foundation floor. To stop water from coming in they would need a waterproofing system installed.

To begin our work we removed the finished walls from the space. We then dug a trench around the interior perimeter of the space. We lain in a bed of gravel with our WaterGuard drainage system to collect and grade the water to a TripleSafe sump pump to be dispelled away from the home. To insulate and guide water from the walls into the drain system, we installed ThermalDry radiant vapor barrier along the foundation walls. The homeowners will have a local contractor come out to refinish the walls and finish the basement fully again. We finished by installed a SaniDry dehumidifier to keep the air healthy.

Finished Basement Apartment has Water in Corvallis, OR

The homeowner called, they had their basement finished and had it rented out as an apartment for local collage students. However, after a particularly heavy rain, there were damp spots found along the base of the walls, seeping into the carpeting. The homeowner wanted to protect the home against water damage and set up and appointment. We sent out a design specialist to do a full inspection and provide a crafted solution to meet the homes needs.

To begin our work we addressed the three large windows, they had wooden wells around them, and water had been seeping into the basement around these windows. We installed new WellDucts to provide proper protection to these windows. In the home we then removed the damaged portions of walls and pulled up the damp carpeting. Around the interior perimeter we then dug a trench and laid down WaterGuard, this will collect groundwater and water from the walls to send it along to a newly installed TripleSafe sump pump. In the living spaces we installed ThermalDry radiant barriers over the foundation walls, and in the laundry space we installed BrightWall paneling. Our finished department then came out and installed our EverLast wall restoration system and ThermalDry flooring to give this space a waterproof and finished look.

Encapsulation for Health Concerns - Corvallis, OR

After seeing a John's Waterproofing's booth at a Home Show, this homeowner called to have her crawlspace inspected. She had been experiencing breathing problems for some time and learned about mold in crawlspaces and how that just might be her problem. A system designer went to her home to perform an inspection. Afterwards he discussed the home's water issues and educated her on the value of our encapsulation system and how it can create a healthy environment in her home. She decided it was the right thing today and would be an investment in her home and her health.

To begin the work, our highly trained installation crew removed the old 6mil vapor barrier as well as the old fiberglass insulation and debris. They installed a 3" perforated pipe drainage system around the perimeter to collect the water and direct it to a newly installed TripleSafe sump pump, along with proper discharge away from the foundation. TerraBlock, a high-density foam product was laid over the dirt floor. This aids in insulating the crawlspace, protecting the new CleanSpace, 20mil, nylon-reinforced barrier and adds padding for when someone needs to be under the home. CleanSpace is used to isolate each wooden post and is anchored to the foundation walls. Most importantly, a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier was installed to ensure this home stayed dry and healthy, killing the mold and preventing regrowth. With all the vents sealed, Spray Foam insulation was applied to the full wall of the foundation to keep the home properly insulated. Healthy, dry, filtered air helps the homeowners stay healthy, comfortable, and save on utility expenses.

Finished Basement Leaking - Corvallis, OR

This homeowner called because they had nearly completed a basement remodel and they noted that there was water intruding into their bathroom before it was fully completed. They called on John's Waterproofing to help them protect their investment. A System Designer was sent out and she walked the homeowner through the basement and explained how the hydrostatic pressure was pushing the water in at the footing all the while letting the homeowner know that John's Waterproofing could not only fix the problem but give him a lifetime warranty that we would collect the water and, provided the pump was operating, the system would collect the water and remove it from the basement. Measurements and photos were taken and a plan was designed to solve this home's water problem.

A few weeks later a crew was sent out and began, the first task was to cut the existing walls and framing 36" up from the floor to make room for installing the WaterGuard.  WaterGuard is an effective and reliable interior gutter system that will solve wet basement problems permanently! The system was installed to lead the water to a TripleSafe sump pump system and discharged to the rain drain system.  To repair the cut walls quickly and with a great look, EverLast basement wall system was installed to cover the missing wall area, and then John's came back and installed ThermalDry Elite plank flooring for a natural wood look that will stand up to moisture and is durable. The homeowners are thrilled to know their finished basement will be safe from water issues.

Finished Basement Needs Waterproofing in Corvallis, OR

This home had its basement finished by a general contractor so it could be rented out, it had been converted to a studio, with an outside accessway. However, it had not been waterproofed before it was finished. A few years after it had been completed, water spots began to poke up on the floor, and some musty smells were evident along with the drywall. With worry about rot and mold, the homeowners called in John's Waterproofing for full waterproofing and finishing.

Our crew began by removing the damaged materials; carpeting, trim, and drywall. Once it was cleared out we dug a trench along with the interior of the parameter, by the entryway we installed our TrenchDrain and our WaterGuard drainage system was installed around the rest of the space. This system took groundwater and directed it to a newly installed SuperSump Plus. From here water is pushed out and away from the foundation of the home. We then installed our ThermalDry wall foil, which insulates and provides a vapor barrier so water is directed down the walls to the drainage system. We then installed our EverLast Wall system and our elite grey floor planking with newly installed trim. The final piece for this job was a SaniDry dehumidifier. This space will now be dry and healthy.

Crawl Space, Corvallis, OR

Malcolm had an appraisal done on his home and was displeased to find out that there was some standing water on the vapor barrier in his crawl space. He had put in a newer sump pump so he was pretty disappointed when he found out it wasn't working as well as it should be. That's where John's came in! Our team of waterproofing professionals came right out and took care of the situation. The crawl space was cleaned out, the damp insulation was removed. We took care of the sump pump situation and got it installed to where it needed to be and Malcolm now has a dry, clean crawl space that passes inspections and functions to the best of its ability.

Here at John's Waterproofing Company, we are always happy to help!

Thermal Dry Flooring in Corvallis, OR Combination Basement

These homeowners had water leaking into their basement and wanted to stop the leakage and prevent further damage. Our inspector, Jack suggested our basement finishing systems because their basement was already partially finished. Of our systems, Allen and Meredith chose our Canyon Beige Thermal Dry tiles and Everlast Wall Panels.

Harry and his team swiftly set out to waterproof and finish Allen and Meredith's basement. They installed the Everlast Wall panels, which are neutral-colored wall boards that are immune to mold and moisture damage. We also placed in our Thermal Dry tiles which are beautiful, durable, maintenance-free basement floor tiles. They snap together and come in a variety of colors. The bottom of Thermal-Dry flooring has raised pegs that creates an air space and keeps water vapor from getting trapped under finished floors.

Allen and Meredith are very satisfied with their new finished basement and look forward to no longer having water issues.
