Job Stories From Neotsu, OR
Prepping the Basement Before Finishing - Neotsu, OR

This homes basement was going to be finished. The designs were drafted, a company selected, and then rain came along the the space got about an inch of water throughout the space. One of the contractors recommended John's Waterproofing to do some waterproofing beforehand so the space would be protected. The homeowners called us up to get a free inspection and learn about our products and how it would help them.

To begin we dug a trench around the interior perimeter of the space. Here we installed a drainage system consisting of WaterGuard over a bed of gravel. This is installed to collect and grade the water to the lowest point where it enters a TripleSafe sump pump which pushes the water away from the home to a LawnScape outlet. Along the walls we installed ThermalDry radiant vapor barrier. This acts as a vapor barrier and thermal break on the walls. We then installed a SaniDry dehumidifier to keep the moisture in the air controlled. Now the space is prepped and ready to be finished by the company that will finish the space.

Water on the Garage floor - Neotsu, OR

This homes garage had water. It seemed to come through under the stairway that led up to the home, and the concrete would be damp to the touch along this wall and floor, wrapping around the back of the garage. Since this issue had developed into a damp odor, it was time to search for a solution. They called up John's Waterproofing to get the space inspected and talk over solutions. In the end a solution was found. To begin we dug a trench around the entire interior perimeter of the space. We installed our WaterGuard drains here, with a trench drain along the two garage doors as well. The drains will collect groundwater as well as the water that runs down the walls. Under the stairs was the lowest point of the space, so we installed a TripleSafe sump pump here, this will pump the water safely away from the home. The walls had our BrightWall paneling installed, this guides water down the walls to the below drain system. This material is easy to clean, provides a semi-finished look, and acts as a vapor barrier. We installed a SaniDry Dehumidifier as a final step and this garage will now be dry, stable, and healthy.

Basement Water Issues in Neotsu, OR

The basement had water stains along the foundation walls, and the homeowners wanted to get this issue under control. They searched online and decided to give John's Waterproofing a call and scheduled their in person inspection. We then discussed their options and found the solution that fit their homes needs and their budget.

To begin this work, our crew dug out an interior perimeter trench. Here we installed a bed of gravel and our WaterGuard drainage system. This will collect the groundwater and grade it to a low spot where we installed a TripleSafe sump pump to pump all collected water well away from the homes foundation. We then installed BrightWall paneling along the foundation walls, this will guide water from the foundation walls into the WaterGuard system to be dealt with. We then installed a SaniDry dehumidifier to keep the air dry and healthy.

Looking to have Basement Finished - Neotsu, OR

This homeowner wanted to have their basement finished, and knew that the space had damp spots already. To ensure their new finished space would remain dry and healthy they wanted to have the space waterproofed. They called up John's Waterproofing to schedule their free inspection and estimate. At this appointment the issue was identified as hydrostatic pressure. The specialist went over the options with the homeowner and a solution was selected and scheduled for installation.

To begin work, the crew dug a trench along the interior perimeter. Here we laid down a bed of gravel and a WaterGuard drainage system. This will collect any water and moisture, and direct it to a low spot where a TripleSafe sump pump was installed to then dispel the water well away from the home. To address the walls, we then installed ThermalDry radiant barriers. This acts as both a vapor barrier and thermal barrier to help keep the basement comfortable year round. A SaniDry dehumidifier was then brought in to keep the spaces humidity levels at a healthy level. The homeowners also really liked our ThermalDry flooring that looked like a gray wood floor, so we then had our finishing crew arrive to install this. This space will now be ready for the homeowners selected contractor to finish the space completely.

Rotting Posts - Neotsu, OR

We were contacted by a property management company to check a rental home. When he got there the System Designer noted that the floors were uneven and when he entered the crawlspace, there were several inches of water on the crawlspace floor and the bottom of several posts were wet and rotting out. This was causing the posts to float over the piers, hence the sagging floors. The answer to the problem was to replace the wooden posts with SmartJacks, a galvanized metal and adjustable jack that would last for years to come.

First, the crew had to dry out the crawlspace by dropping in some temporary sump pumps and large fans. After a few weeks, the crawlspace was ready for installation. The wooden posts were replaced with the SmartJacks and a 3" perforated pipe drainage system was trenched in around the perimeter and graded to a new TripleSafe Sump System. Drainage from the pumps was led well away from the house and directed downhill. A new 6mil plastic vapor barrier was laid on the floor and attached to the foundation walls to protect the home.

Cracks in the Foundation Floor Causing Water Issues in Neotsu, OR

This home had been finished, and unbeknownst to the homeowners, there was a water issue pressing upwards through some floor cracks. Eventually the homeowners noticed that parts of the carpeting were smelling off and when heavy rains occurred, the carpet was wet.

To solve this issue we began by removing the carpet, the odd smells was water mold that had begun to grow in the carpet where water was creeping through. We then installed a drainage system, this included WaterGaurd along the interior parameter, and a three inch pipe installed through the room to collect ground water. From here water went to a TripleSafe sump pump and was pushed out and away from the home. We then installed our gray ThermalDry carpet squares to give this home and dry and healthy finish.

Drafty Basement Turned into a Warm and Finished Space - Neotsu, OR

The basement of This home had been unfinished, it was drafty, damp, and adding to their energy costs since the temperature couldn't be regulated. The homeowners wanted to take back this space and lower their energy bills, so they decided it was time to finish their basement and use it! Since there was dampness in the basement, they wanted to protect this investment and waterproof it before they finished it, so they called John's Waterproofing.

Our crew came out and installed a TripleSafe sump pump to divert all of the water out and away from the home. A trench was then dug around the interior perimeter so we could install our WaterGaurd drainage system. Since it was a large basement we also added some buried perforated pipes through the middle of the room to collect additional water that was under the home. The walls were then insulated and covered with our ThermalDry wall system. This would reflect heat back into the basement and act as a vapor barrier so any water that crept through the wall would be diverted down to the WaterGaurd system in the floor. The floors were then covered in ThermalDry Flooring, a non-organic material that will help insulate the floor so it is warm to walk along, and also waterproof so it will not mold. Finally, we added in a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier. This basements transformation has given it a clean and crisp appearance, and it is ready to be used by the homeowners as they wish.

Water Mineral Build-up in Neotsu, OR

The homeowner called to discuss the white mineral build up found in their unfinished basement and crawlspace areas. While an old Sump Pump was installed by another company, it was unable to keep standing water from being in some of the elevated spaces, and the basement had an ongoing issue with water seeping through their concrete block walls. This constant issue was leading to a white mineral build up on most of the wall surfaces. And because water could get in, when the weather heated up, all the vapor was starting to cause visible damage to the insulation that was inserted into the ceiling spaces. It was drooping, and falling apart during the humid months.

To combat this pressing issue, John's installation crew began by removing the debris that was present. Any damaged installation and old un-maintained material was removed. The crew then removed the old sump pump and dug out the space so it would have a floor area that the crew could work in. WaterGaurd piping was laid around the edges of the space and connected to the new TripleSafe Sump Pump. With a new system in place to keep standing water at bay, the crew then installed ThermalDry Wall sheets to keep the weeping walls contained.

Once completed this job was able to keep the basement dry and became an easy to access space so the homeowners could monitor their basement and crawlspace and have annual services performed so the water would stay out of their home.
