Job Stories From Rickreall, OR
Water Pooling in Basement - Rickreall, OR

This basement had water pooling in it. The homeowners had moved boxes and stored items into safe spots in the basement, ensuring items were not soaking water up from the pools of water. As the rains continued, the basement began to emit a damp smell, and the pools were beginning to expand. The homeowners called upon John's Waterproofing to see how to handle this.

To address the spaces issues, we did a full inspection, through the basement and around the exterior of the home. We would begin with a full drainage system. Using a Jackhammer, we dug a trench around the interior perimeter of the space. We lay in a bed of gravel and our WaterGuard drainage system. This is fed water from the walls using the newly installed CleanSpace Wall system. This allows moisture and water to be diverted down the walls safely and meet up with the groundwater in the new drain system. This system is graded to the lowest point of the basement where we installed a TripleSafe sump pump to send the water safely away from the homes foundation. As a final step we installed a SaniDry dehumidifier which would keep the moisture content in control and the space healthy.

Water Coming Through Basement Walls - Rickreall, OR

This home had water coming through the walls. While no cracks were evident, concrete is still a porous material, and as years pass, water will find a way. The homeowners had looked up waterproofing options and saw that painting over it would just be a continuous project, and they wanted a solution, so they called up John's Waterproofing.

To begin our work we used a jackhammer to create a crevasse along the interior, by the foundation walls. Gravel was laid down in this space, with a WaterGuard drain system to collect the water and guide it along to a TripleSafe sump to be pumped out and away from the home. BrightWall paneling was then installed along the foundation walls. This will ensure any moisture from the walls is guided down into the drain system to be addressed. A SaniDry dehumidifier was installed to keep the air healthy and mold from growing. This space no longer faces damp walls or puddling on the floor. The homeowner is happy to have a solution, not a 'quickfix' that needs to be redone every year or so.

Water Entering Unfinished Basement Through Window Wells in Rickreall, OR

Water stains can be an easy way to spot that water damage has been occurring. This homeowner had been in their home for a few years, and when moving stored items, they discovered water stains in long drip patterns under a window well. After seeing this they looked further around in the basement and found mold spores starting to grow on some of the material stored. The homeowners wanted to continue using this space, so they called up John's Waterproofing to discuss their homes options.

To begin helping, we addressed the windows. Our finishing crew arrived and installed window wells on the windows that were near the ground. These will ensure no unnecessary pressure is placed upon the windows. Next, our installation crew dug a trench along the interior perimeter. In this we set a bed of gravel and WaterGuard. Using a level, we grade the WaterGuard drainage system to a TripleSafe sump pump to push all collected water out and away from the homes foundation. The walls were then wrapped with a CleanSpace Wall vapor barrier. This ensures that all water is sent safely down into the drainage system. Since the space did have high humidity readings we also installed a SaniDry dehumidifier to keep this space ideal for storage.

New Water Heater - Richreall, OR

This homeowners water heater had begin to act out. It was an older model, and after weighing the costs of repair versus buying a new one and having energy savings, the homeowners opted to purchase a new water heater. However, they needed a reliable plumber to safely unhook the old water heater and install their new one. They searched online and contacted John's Waterproofing plumbing department. Our plumbers arrived and turned off the water. They then safely detached the old system and moved the new water heater into place. Once things were hooked up again, the water heater was checked to ensure everything was done properly. The homeowners were excited to have their new system hooked up, and look forward to seeing their energy bills going down.

Wet Basement in Rickreall, OR

A customer had a large finished basement with concrete flooring that would leak when it rained. To address this issue the homeowner called John's Waterproofing looking for a cure so they could install carpeting in this space.  A System Designer went out to the home and thoroughly examined the basement interior and the home's exterior to determine why the water was coming in. He took several pictures and measure the basement so he could put together a proposal. He also explained to the owner how we could waterproof her basement so it would always be dry.

The installation team arrived and got right to work taking down perimeter walls to facilitate the installation of the preferred drainage system; WaterGuard. This is an award-winning piping system engineered specifically to solve basement water problems effectively and without the worry of clogging pipes from soil or debris. Our crew installed this around the perimeter terminating it at the sump pump. The SuperSump Plus is a two-pump system with a primary pump and a battery backup to assure continued pumping in the event of a power outage. ThermalDry wall was added to the wall before restoration to make sure any moisture that came from the walls was driven down into the drain system and provide insulation for the basement. The homeowner also opted to install a SaniDry XP dehumidifier to keep the humidity down and filter the air in the entire home. Now this homeowner can enjoy a dry and comfortable space with new flooring and without the worry of water intrusion.

Semi Finished Basement Water Woes - Rickreall, OR

The homeowner was fed up with water coming into her semi-finished basement, especially since it housed her daughter's bedroom space, so she called on John's Waterproofing to solve the problem. A System Designer discovered problems with damaged and clogged downspouts which were part of the problem but not all. The house was located near a waterway which meant high water tables. To solve their water issues, the homeowner opted for a full perimeter WaterGuard system, a repair of the downspouts combined with a SuperSump Plus and BrightWall.

WaterGuard is an award-winning piping system engineered specifically to solve basement water problems effectively and without the worry of clogging pipes from soils under the floor. Our crew installed it around the perimeter terminating it at a newly installed SuperSump Plus Pump. This has a primary pump with a battery backup to assure continued pumping in the event of a power outage. BrightWall is a wall panel system that gives the basement a semi-finished look and takes care of any water vapor intrusion from the walls. It's durable, washable, and has a great look! Now this homeowner can enjoy a comfortable space without the worry of water intrusion.

Humidity in the Basement - Rickreall, OR

Unfinished basements are often used for storage, but without a waterproofing system in place, this can mean mold spores. This basement had high levels of humidity and this created an ideal space for mold to take hold. With mold threatening their home, the homeowners called in John's Waterproofing.

Our install crews began by installing a waterproofing system. This included a WaterGaurd trench drain to collect groundwater from the interior parameter and a SmartSump pump. These would push the water out and away from the foundation of the home. We then installed a SaniDry XP dehumidifier to ensure the basement humidity levels were controlled. This would keep the basement dry and healthy so mold spores wouldn't be able to grow.

Basement Floor has Water Creeping In - Rickreall, OR

The homeowners had water that was pooling in some parts of their basement. With the recent rainfall they had noticed the water spots had grown more and they wanted to find a solution so they didn't have to keep moving around the items in their basement.

Our crew came out and began by digging a trench along the interior parameter of the area. By the exterior doorway we installed a TrenchDrain and the rest of the trench had our WaterGuard system installed and covered with new cement. These would work together to collect the water and divert it to the newly installed SmartSump pump that then diverts the water a safe distance away from the home. To finish off this project we added in a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier that would keep the water vapor at a good level.

Healthy and Dry Basement in Rickreall, OR

We received a call from a homeowner with complaints of water in their basement and damp and musty smelling air coming from the basement but affecting the rest of the house as well. Our crews went out to the home to help. They installed WaterGuard piping system along the perimeter of the basement at the wall and floor joints. WaterGuard is designed to not clog from soils under the floor. It intercepts water at the perimeter of the basement and drains in unseen and safely away to the sump pump. Our crew installed a SmartSump sump pump. The SmartSump has a built-in WaterWatch alarm system to alert the homeowners in the event of a plumbing leak so that the problem can be fixed before any damage is done. There's also the option of battery backup protection for the SmartSump as well in case there's ever a power outage. Our team also installed a SaniDry XP dehumidifier. This high-performance dehumidification and air filtration system will eliminate damp and musty odors in the basement by drying and filtering the air. It takes ten times the amount of water out of the air as a conventional dehumidifier but uses the same amount of energy. Having cleaner air downstairs means having cleaner air for the rest of the house as well. Now this homeowner and their family can enjoy a dry and healthier basement for years to come.
