Job Stories From Saint Paul, OR
Looking for Radon Testing in Saint Paul, OR

As radon becomes more known, homeowners are encouraged to have their homes tested and mitigation systems installed as needed. This homeowner had heard about their town having high levels of radon, so they decided to pursue testing. They called up John's Waterproofing and scheduled their continuous radon test. We dropped it of, and three days later returned to discuss the readings. The homes radon levels did fluctuate with and average of 4.4 pCi/L. It is recommended to have a mitigation system installed in any home with a reading of 2.0 pCi/L and over. So we scheduled their mitigation installation. This has a pipe installed to pull radon gases directly out from under the home, the mitigation fan is attached to the side of the home and sucks the gas out, sending it above the homes roofline. Once completed we left behind a charcoal testing kit so they can retest, seeing how their homes levels have improved.

Damp Basement in Saint Paul, OR

This homes basement had water stains along the walls and floors, showing tracks for where the moisture moves throughout the space. The homeowners wanted to make use of this space, and knew to do so, they would need to find a way to control the water so things wouldn't get damaged. For this they ended up calling upon John's Waterproofing. We scheduled their free inspection, and our dedicated design specialist went over their options to find the solution that best suits their needs.

To begin we dug a trench around the home's interior perimeter, as well as a few leech lines that flowed through the room where water moisture was coming up through the floor. We then laid in a bed of gravel and used perforated pipes through the leech lines and WaterGuard along the perimeter. The walls were then covered with BrightWall paneling. This is a semi-finished wall system and will guide the water down the walls to the drainage system. Here the water meets groundwater and it all grades to the lowest point of the space where a TripleSafe sump pump then sends the water safely away from the home's foundation. As a final step we installed a SaniDry dehumidifier to keep the moisture and air content healthy. The homeowners are thrilled to be able to start using the space instead of having to keep it clear and empty.

Leaking Basement in Saint Paul, OR

This homes basement had a consistent leak, rendering the space generally un-usable. The homeowners thought that to waterproof they would need to excavate around the exterior of the home, which is a pretty intrusive installation. For that reason, they had simply not addressed the basement issues. That is, until they learned that John's Waterproofing works from the interior of the basement. The homeowners scheduled their free inspection and were thrilled to hear about our approach and how it would solve their water problems.

To begin our work we dug a trench around the interior perimeter of the basement. Here we installed our WaterGuard drainage system on a bed of gravel. The walls were covered with out BrightWall paneling. This guides any moisture from the walls down into the WaterGuard where it joins the collected groundwater and is graded to the low spot of the basement. At this low point, the water goes into the TripleSafe sump pump which pumps the water out and away from the home to a LawnScape outlet. We then installed a SaniDry dehumidifier to keep the humidity levels under control. The space is now bright, dry and healthy. The homeowners are thrilled to now be able to use this space!

Wet Basement and Wanting to have it Finished - Saint Paul, OR

This homes basement had a pretty significant leak occurring. The homeowner did want to have the space finished, but they knew the water issue would need to be addressed before they could finish it. While they had the finishing company selected, they were referred over to John's Waterproofing for the waterproofing piece of the project.

To begin, our installation crew dug a trench along the interior perimeter, here we laid down a bed of gravel with our WaterGuard drainage system. This will grade the collected water down to a low spot where we installed a TripleSafe sump pump to send the water out away from the home to a LawnScape outlet. The walls were then insulated and waterproofed with a ThermalDry radiant vapor barrier. This will guide wall moisture down the wall safely so it can be collected in the drain system. We then installed a SaniDry Dehumidifier and the space is officially ready to be finished!

Unseen Water Mold Exposed in Saint Paul, OR

When these homeowners moved into their home years and years ago, they had used their unfinished basement for laundry and as long term storage space. Since living here, they hadn't moved much around, until they decided to upgrade their washer and drier. Once they moved the old ones, they found the foundation damp, and with water mold. They began moving some of their other items around and found the same problem throughout the basement. They looked online and quickly called up John's Waterproofing to a free inspection and estimate.

To begin working on the space, Mold X2 was applied as needed. We then dug a trench along the interior perimeter, where we laid down a bed of gravel and installed WaterGuard drain system. This will naturally grade the collected water to a newly installed TripleSafe sump pump to dispel the water well away from the homes foundation. We then applied BrightWall paneling along the foundation walls, this will act as a vapor barrier, and send moisture down to the drain system. It is also easy to clean, and cannot rot or mold. To ensure the space is dry and healthy we installed a SaniDry dehumidifier to protect this home.

Transforming Basement into a Living Space - St. Paul, OR

Basements are great for creating additional living space, but only if they are waterproofed before construction begins. Even a seemingly dry basement can start having water intrusion issues at a later date and is a costly issue to face. This basement clearly had water damage so the homeowner knew that it had to be addressed first. A System Designer arrived and walked the basement with the homeowner. He told him why the water was coming in and how John's could offer a system with a lifetime warranty to protect his impending investment. Afterward, they sat down and built a proposal together.

The installation crew arrived and got right to work breaking out the concrete around the perimeter of the basement to create a 6" trough for the installation of the perforated PVC drain pipe. Normally, we would use WaterGuard system on top of the footing but, being an older home with no footing, this was the preferred method. The pipe was laid in a bed of gravel to keep the dirt/silt from getting into it and a flange was created with drainage mat to enable the use of a BrightWall wall system. BrightWall panels consist of hard PVC plastic that is white, bright, and easy to keep clean giving the basement a great semi-finished look. This barrier collects moisture from the basement walls and drives it into the drain system. The pipe terminated at a TripleSafe sump system with its main pump, backup pump and UltraSump battery backup to ensure continued operation in the event of a power failure. They concreted back over the pipe so the floor was smooth and level. Our crew then installed a SaniDry XP dehumidifier to help keep moisture down and filter the air. The basement was now ready for this family to enjoy.

Wet Basement - St Paul, OR

This was an older home with a very wet basement and nearly 1500 sq ft of potentially usable space if the water issues could be resolved.  Our System Designer was sent to the home where he walked around the basement and, while taking measurements, described some of the options available. He explained how John's Waterproofing could give them a lifetime warranty on the patented  WaterGuard System in that, so long as the pump was operating, the WaterGuard would gather the water and direct it to the pumps.

A few weeks later the crew arrived. The crew got to work right away, breaking out 6" of concrete around the perimeter to install the WaterGuard. It was placed on top of the footing in a bed of gravel and inspection ports were strategically placed and terminated at the SuperSump location. Well Ducts were installed at the below-grade windows and BrightWall panels were fastened to the walls inserted into the flange at the back of the WaterGuard to insure any wall seepage or window well overflow was directed into the system. BrightWall panels are a textured plastic wall panels that are waterproof and easy to clean and most importantly, keep moisture directed to the WaterGuard system for removal. Homeowners also invested in a SaniDry XP to keep the air clean and dry.

Leaky Basement Solution - St Paul, OR

Nobody likes a leaky basement.  A new customer called needing a solution for his leaky basement so he could remodel and create living space. One of our design specialists was dispatched to the address to assess the situation. He walked around the basement with the homeowner and while taking photos, they discussed his concerns and plans for the space. Next, they went upstairs and sat down and the salesman pulled out his computer and showed the customer why it was leaking and how John's Waterproofing could fix it with a permanent solution.  It made sense to the customer and the price was right so he decided to move forward with the work.

A few weeks later our crew came out to do the work. They started by removing approximately 6 inches of concrete around the perimeter floor on the footing. Some of the underlying dirt was removed to accommodate a bed of gravel and installed WaterGuard drainage system. WaterGuard is an award-winning piping system, specially engineered for basement water problems. It intercepts water around the perimeter and it's virtually unseen when completed. WellDucts were installed at each window because they were below grade, to ensure that water build-up in the wells was driven into the new drainage system. ThermalDry wall system was then installed to both insulate and drive any moisture into the WaterGuard system. The installation also included a TripleSafe sump system with its battery backup to ensure the water is handled during power outages. Lastly, a discharge line was run to lead the water away from the home.

Water pooling around the Homes Foundation, Seeping into Basement - Saint Paul, OR

The home had experienced water creeping through the concrete walls into their unfinished basement. They looked around their home and found that water would pool around their downspouts from the gutter systems. As these pools on the exterior of the building would disappear, that was when the water issues in their basement would be more prominent. The exterior system was causing water damage to the home. To stop this issue from persisting, John's Waterproofing was called in.

To fix this homes issue, our crews began by digging a line on the exterior of the house from the downspouts to a safe distance from the home. These underground pipes would direct the water away, so that the water would no longer be pooling by the home. Since their was water getting into the basement, we wanted to ensure that the home would be ready for whatever weather would come by. We added in a Drainage pipe along the interior of the basement walls that would direct water that got through the concrete to the new TripleSafe Sump Pump. This would be capable of keeping the water moving away from the home, even if the power went out with its backup battery operated pump that kicks on only when the power goes out. We added in BrightWall wall panels to get the water from the walls down safely so it could go to the sump pump without causing damage to the basement. To top off the project we put in a SaniDry XP to combat any humidity issues.

Another home fixed by John's Waterproofing. Keeping homes dry and healthy since 1974.

WaterGuard System in St. Paul, OR

One of our System Designers recently inspected a job in St. Paul for a homeowner who was concerned about leaky basement walls that were creating unusable space. Our inspector's solution for waterproofing this basement was installing our patented WaterGuard system, Bright Wall Paneling on the walls, and a new Super Sump sump pump.

Our crew leader and his team quickly set out to waterproof the basement, and ensure there would be no more water intrusion. The team installed WaterGuard, a perimeter drain system that collects water from leaking basement walls and conducts it to the sump pump. Our BrightWall Panels were also installed, and it works directly with the perimeter drains by channeling water from the walls into the drain. The panels leave the damp, ugly walls bright and beautiful and never need paint or other maintenance. The team also put in a SuperSump sump pump that comes with all the amenities a sump pump can offer: a superliner, floor drain, alarm system, and an airtight cover lid that keeps out insects, and odors.

This homeowner now has usable space free of water.
