THE IMPORTANCE OF PROPER INSULATION
It is now a week into winter and the cold is setting in and the rain has not stopped. Our heaters are on, our blankets are pulled up and travel is at a minimum. Are you noticing spikes in your heating bills or drafty airs in your home or between certain floor boards? This is often an indication that your insulation is not intact under your home.
With ventilated crawlspaces, all that cold wet air creeps into your crawlspace and then evaporates into your fiberglass insulation. As the fiberglass insulation gets wet, it begins to droop and sag, and eventually fall down. This leaves exposed areas of your subfloor and creates colder areas in the home. The more the insulation sags, the more cold air is able to seep in and the more you have to compensate by turning up your heater and trying to keep your home warm.
