Photo Album: Keeping Your Basement Dry in Salem, OR
This homeowner was experiencing water flooding into their basement. They had a different company do a basement waterproofing system that failed and needed help fixing the damage that was done. They called John's Waterproofing about redoing their basement waterproofing system so it would last. To waterproof the basement, the first thing we needed to do was install a proper drainage system. This is done by installing WaterGuard along the interior perimeter of the basement. This is able to collect any water that seeps in and sends it safely to a TripleSafe sump pump. This ensures that all the water collected can safely be pushed out of the basement and away from the homes foundation. The homeowner also addressed that they wanted to finish their basement in the future and wanted a moisture barrier installed for when they do that. ThermalDry is a vapor barrier and provides a thermal break that is installed along the foundation walls. It is made of waterproof material that is able to guide moisture from the walls down below to the drainage system. This can happen because we shingle the vapor barrier to the walls and the WaterGuard for a secure flow of water. Additionally, the wood framing was still in good condition, therefore we were able to apply the ThermalDry behind the framing and anchor it. Once this waterproofing is completed, the homeowner can have their basement be finished and enjoy their usable living space while it stays dry.

Holes in Basement Walls.
The basement also had damage to the walls that allows easy access for water to seep in and flood the space.
Installation of WaterGuard and ThermalDry.
After we install the WaterGuard drainage system along the base of the basement, it is then covered with concrete to be discreet. ThermalDry is the silver glossy vapor barrier that goes along the foundation walls to guide moisture to the WaterGuard.
Servicing the TripleSafe Sump Pump.
After we installed a proper drainage system, we were able to connect to the previous TripleSafe so that it could work to efficiently push water out of the basement.
