Vapor Barrier installed in North Plains, OR
Challenge
When this home owner called our company it was due to a musty smell that she believed was coming from under her home. In the summer time, we get this call several times a week. This odor is most often caused by increased humidity and the creation of mold spores under the home that are beginning to creep through the floor boards and is not the house. It is far more noticeable in homes that have central air and the intake or duct work is in the crawlspace. This happens for a few reasons. The first of which, is that water that accumulated under the home over the winter has traveled up into the fiberglass insulation and has created the mold which is now sporing and creating a musty smell. This smell then moves through the floor of the home from the stack effect. The second reason is that warm air coming in through the open crawl space vents is cooling and condensation in the crawlspace. This water vapor then moves into the insulation in the same way and creates mold spores through the stack effect.
Solution
Our crews came in and install our patented CleanSpace and a drainage system which removes water and moisture from the space and helps to ensure a clean and mold free environment for our homeowners.
