Musty Basement Air Leaking into the Home - Manzanita, OR
Challenge
A family had noticed a while back that the air coming from their basement was musty. It was making it difficult for everyone, especially the kids, to breath. Tired not being able to enjoy their basement and the kids not even being able to go down there at all, they went to their local home improvement store and picked up a little dehumidifier in hopes that it would improve the air quality in their basement and maybe even in the rest of their home. But they soon realized that it this dehumidifier wasn't making enough of a difference. The kids still couldn't go downstairs without having trouble with their breathing and there was still a bit of a musty smell. They didn't know how to get a stronger, more powerful dehumidifier without paying for way more energy costs.
Solution
Our crews went out to this family's home and installed a SaniDry XP high-performance dehumidification and air filtration system. Like any dehumidifier, it eliminates damp musty odors by drying and filtering the air. What makes this dehumidifier different from others is that it takes ten times the amount of moisture from the air as a typical dehumidifier yet, it uses the same amount of energy. The SaniDry XP will dry the air and automatically drain the water out of a hose so that the homeowner never has to empty it out like a conventional dehumidifier. It has a two-stage filter system to keep the air clean. There's a prefilter for large dist particles that can be rinsed clean as needed and there's a second slide-in filter that takes out particles as small as two microns. With this dehumidifier, allergin and mold spores are eliminated and replaced with clean air. Now every member of the family can enjoy the basement. Even the air in the rest of the house is healthier. Since air travels up, having healthy air downstairs means having healthier air in the rest of the home as well. This family can breath easy with the help of the SaniDry XP dehumidifier.
