This job was like so many others. "It's not wet or anything I just need a new vapor barrier." Many homeowners question whether or not to have us out because they don't really have a large problem and they are afraid that we are going to oversell them when that is not the solution that they want or need. Our goal is to have satisfied customers. In order to achieve this, our inspectors listen closely to the homeowner's wants and needs and make sure we give that to them.
Solution
If the customer is adamant that they do not want a full system, we will not sell them a system. In this home, we installed new vent covers, vapor barrier, and removed the insulation that had fallen and the pieces left in the crawlspace after the contractor installed it. They did not want to invest the money in the full encapsulation system yet but still wanted more protection and a cleaner space than he currently had. We replaced the vapor barrier, installed vent covers, and removed the debris. In the future, they will encapsulate the space completely but for now, this was the right solution for this homeowner.
