Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Basement Waterproofing Saves 115 Year Old Home - Eugene, OR
This homeowner lives in a home that was built in 1910 that came with an unfinished basement. They noticed that over that past 20 years there has been puddles of water that would appear after heavy rainfall. With the hopes of remodeling their home and finishing their basement, they reached out to John's Waterproofing about what options they had to seal up their basement and prevent future water from being able to seep through. They agreed that doing a basement waterproofing process would be the best option to protect against the water seeping through and excess moisture in the air. To begin this process, we needed to install a drainage system that would be able to prevent future water from puddling. To do so we installed WaterGuard along the interior perimeter of the basement. WaterGuard is a pipe system designed to securely collect water and give it safe passage to a sump pump. The WaterGuard system is placed on top of the footing in the basement and lined with gravel to filter water through and prevent clogging. It connects to a TripleSafe sump pump that takes all that collected water and pumps it out and away from the homes foundation. Because this homeowner wants to be able to finish their basement in the future, we installed ThermalDry along the basement walls. This vapor barrier allows protection from water that may seep through the cracks in the foundation walls and guides it down to the drainage system. It is anchored to the walls and shingled to the drainage system for secure passage of water. A SaniDry dehumidifier in then installed to address moisture in the air. After this entire process is completed, the homeowner can finish remodeling their basement knowing it will remain dry all year round.
Cracks in Basement Walls.
The cracks in the basement walls allow easy access for water to seep through and puddle in the basement.
Discoloration on Basement Walls.
The discoloration on the basement walls by the window is evidence that water has been seeping through for many years without proper protection or drainage.
WaterGuard Installation.
After the WaterGuard is installed along the base of the basement, it is completely covered with concrete to offer a discreet and effective drainage system.
ThermalDry on Walls.
ThermalDry is the silver vapor barrier that is applied to the foundation walls and sealed with 4 in. waterproof tape to ensure no water can seep through the cracks and into the basement.
TripleSafe Sump Pump.
The TripleSafe sump pump is a three-pump system designed to collect gallons of water and safely push it away from the homes foundation.
