Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Basement Waterproofing: Keeping Moisture Out - Portland, OR
This homeowner had been experiencing water leaking through their basement walls for a long time. They never knew how to solve the problem and always just hoped it would get better on its own. It got to the point where the basement was getting completely flooded, but they wanted to finish the space. They reached out to John's Waterproofing ready to have their basement dry and healthy again. We first had to go in and install a drainage system. The amount of water that was pooling in had no where to go. For the drainage, we needed to install WaterGuard system. This is a drainage pipe that gets installed at the footing of the basement and can collect both rising groundwater and water that gets in through the walls. It has inspection ports to ensure the drain is running smoothly and lined with gravel to help filter water through. The WaterGuard is installed along the interior perimeter of the basement and connects to a SuperSump Plus sump pump. The sump pump is capable of taking all that water and safely sending it out of the basement and away from the homes foundation. Once drainage is installed and the basement won't continue flooding, then we install ThermalDry. This is a vapor barrier that goes along the basement walls to help keep moisture out. It guides any water that tries to seep into the basement down below to the drainage system. We anchor it to the walls and shingle it to the WaterGuard for secure passage of water. It is sealed with waterproof tape and helps to ensure the basement won't flood. After everything is installed, we cover the drainage system with concrete so it offers a discreet, yet effective look for the homeowners. Now the basement is completely waterproofed, and the owners can have the space finished without having to worry about their basement staying dry.
