Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Leaky Basement Walls Almost Ruined This Home - Portland, OR
Due to heavy rain seasons, this basement was constantly experiencing water leaking in. The homeowner wanted to find a long-term solution to stop water from getting inside and called John's Waterproofing. For a full solution to their water issues we recommended a full basement waterproofing system. To begin, we needed to install a drainage system using WaterGuard. This heavy duty drainage pipe is installed along the interior perimeter of the basement and collects any water that tries to seep into the basement and safely sends it to a SuperSump Plus sump pump. The sump pump takes the collected water and can push it out of the basement and away from the homes foundation. This drainage system is able to control the passage of water to ensure that the basement will stay dry. In the areas where the basement was going to be finished, we added protection to the walls by installing ThermalDry. This is a vapor and heat barrier that helps to guide any moisture down to the drainage system. It also helps the home be more energy efficient because it reflects heat in the basement. We seal it to the walls with 4 in. thick waterproof tape and anchor it. It is then shingled down below to WaterGuard drainage system to ensure no water will be able to get into the basement from the walls. In the other parts of the basement where they weren't finishing, we installed a CleanSpace Wall vapor barrier. This vapor barrier is made with thick woven fibers and sealed with waterproof tape and caulking. We finished with drywall and now the homeowner can enjoy a dry and healthy basement no matter the seasons.
Before Basement Waterproofing.
This was before the basement had been waterproofed and had water constantly leaking inside through the walls.
Shingling WaterGuard to ThermalDry.
WaterGuard is installed along the footing of the basement and is covered with concrete to provide a discreet, yet effective, drainage system. The ThermalDry shingles to the WaterGuard for safe passage of water.
Sealing ThermalDry.
ThermalDry is a vapor barrier that gets anchored and sealed to the basement walls with thick waterproof tape to ensure no water will seep through.
Finishing Basement Walls.
Once the basement is waterproofed, we finished with drywall so that the homeowner can make it a more usable space.
CleanSpace and SuperSump Plus.
In the area not finished, CleanSpace Wall vapor barrier is installed and a SuperSump Plus sump pump to help make sure the entire basement will stay dry year round.
