Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Add More Space to Your Home: Basement Waterproofing in Portland, OR
After years of water seeping in through the walls, this homeowner was ready to upgrade their basement and add more usable space to their home. They called John's Waterproofing about what they could do to stop the water from constantly coming through and ruining their furniture. We suggested that a basement waterproofing system would be the best solution to ensure water wouldn't come through any more and they could use the basement however they wanted. First, we needed to install a drainage system. This would be crucial for this project to offer water a safe passageway so it could be sent away. We installed WaterGuard drainage pipe along the interior perimeter of the basement. It sits alongside the footing of the basement and is lined with gravel to avoid clogging and offer an easy way to filter the water through. The WaterGuard connects to a TripleSafe sump pump. This three-pump system is capable of collecting gallons of water and can securely push it out of the basement and away from the homes foundation through a discharge line. Once the drainage system is installed, we cover it with concrete so it offers the homeowners a discreet look while still keeping water out of the basement. Then, we installed BrightWall along the basement walls. This is a white paneling that provides a semi-finished look and is made of materials that won't rot or grow mold. BrightWall goes directly on the existing basement walls and helps to guide any moisture down below to the drainage system. This way any water that tries to come in through the walls or the ground will have direct access into the WaterGuard to be pushed out by the sump pump. Now, this homeowner gets to add hundreds of square feet to their homes usable space because the basement will stay dry and healthy all year round.
