Cleanspace Resolves Issues in Rhododendron, OR Crawlspace
Challenge
This homeowner had a natural spring causing a small creek to run through his crawlspace. Water in a crawlspace can cause all kinds of problems. In this case, the water was causing structural damage that made the house unsafe. Water and moisture can also cause mold, mildew, and odors, as well as rot and structural damage to their home. By allowing water to stay in the crawlspace, homeowners can be introducing themselves to potential health issues as 50% of the air from the crawlspace is in the first floor of the home.
Solution
John's Waterproofing offers many different solutions to water intrusion issues and we can transform your crawlspace into a cleaner, drier, healthier, and more energy- efficient space. Our solution for this particular homeowner was our patented Cleanspace encapsulation system. It is a 20 mil thick, 7 layer polyethylene composition with polyester composition. Cleanspace is patented to reduce moisture and humidity, seal out cold air, and keep out all insects and pests. It is installed on the floor and walls to create a continuous air and moisture barrier. We also installed spray foam insulation, a closed-celled barrier that also keeps out moisture and air. This system ensures that no water will cause any more structural damage or allow odors and allergens to reach the home.
