Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Crawlspace Encapsulation Sublimity, OR

We met this fantastic customer while our technician Chase was at the neighboring home performing the yearly maintenance for a system we had installed previously. Since the technician was there, he offered to perform a full inspection once he finished his service job. When he dove under the home, he found some mold growth in the crawlspace from high humidity, and the overall quality of the crawlspace could benefit from an encapsulation. This album will take you through the process of an encapsulation system.

Water staining on post in crawlspace

Prior to installation, this crawlspace had signs of water staining on the wood posts indicating there was long term water issues occurring in the crawlspace.

Old Vapor Barrier in Disrepair

This photo shows the ripped 6 mil vapor barrier and exposed earth prior to an encapsulation.

Drainage System Installation

The old 6 mil vapor barrier has been removed and the crew has started to install the drainage system and lay the TerraBlock insulation.

Sealing the crawlspace

CleanSpace is a thick vapor barrier that is flexible and tear resistant. It has an antimicrobial additive which prevents mold growth. CleanSpace is fitted into the crawlspace around all obstructions, installed under the wooden posts and even installed up the walls in the crawlspace. The CleanSpace is sealed with a 4 inch wide waterproof tape.

Sump pump installation and discharge line

The crew installs a sump pump in the crawlspace. A proper discharge line is important to have any water that enters the pump flows out the discharge line away from the home.

Cleaning the CleanSpace

The Encapsulation is not fully complete but the crew is double checking all work to ensure a fully sealed crawlspace. Once all the CleanSpace has been laid down and sealed the crew will vacuum the Crawlspace to ensure a bright beautiful area.
