Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Pipe Pump Plastic: Budget-Friendly Protection - Vancouver, WA
Every homeowner needs to have some kind of protection against water in their crawl space. Keeping water out is critical in ensuring your home remains dry and healthy for as long as you live there. At John's Waterproofing, we believe every homeowner should have their homes protected from water damage and we offer multiple options for just that. One of the systems we install in crawl spaces is the Pipe Pump Plastic method. This is a more budget-friendly option if the homeowner isn't ready to fully commit to doing a full encapsulation. It involves installing a drainage system and protection from water with a vapor barrier. To begin this process, we first need to remove any damaged vapor barrier and falling insulation. Then, we dig a trench along the interior perimeter of the crawl to install a perforated pipe in. This pipe can collect water and offer it a safe passageway versus just puddling everywhere. It can collect water from the soil to stop rising groundwater and from the walls where water can seep in through cracks in the foundation. This pipe connects to a SuperSump Plus sump pump. This pump is designed to collect gallons of water and safely push it out of the crawl space and away from the homes foundation. The last step of this method is installing a vapor barrier. This vapor barrier is a 6 mil thick liner that is attached at the base of the crawl space and anchored up the foundation walls. We even install it at the base of the wooden posts to isolate them and protect from water damage. Once the Pipe Pump Plastic system is installed, it offers the homeowner protection and drainage against water while also being a more budget-friendly option.
