Home Health Photo Album: Stop Water from Getting into Your Home by Encapsulating - Mount Vernon, WA
This homeowner had moved into their home a year ago and started noticing water seeping in through their ground level bathroom which shared a wall with their crawl space. Mold was growing on the bathroom walls from the excess moisture. They wanted a solution that would stop water from getting in and reached out to John's Waterproofing about what their options were. We suggested that a full encapsulation would be the best long-term solution in stopping the water that was flooding in the crawl space from continuing to get into their home. First, we needed to remove the previous damaged vapor barrier that was torn and exposing the earth beneath their home. Then, we needed to install a drainage system. This involves laying a perforated pipe along the interior perimeter of the crawl space and connecting it to a SuperSump Plus sump pump. They work together to safely collect any water that tries to get into the crawl space and guide away from the homes foundation. In order to seal the crawl space off and control the environment, we installed a TerraBlock insulation foam. Next we installed CleanSpace, this goes over the TerraBlock, up the foundation walls, and between the footing and wooden posts to isolate and protect against water damage. It is sealed with waterproof tape to ensure no water is able to seep over top of it. SilverGlo was applied along the foundation walls to finish insulating the space. Lastly, a SaniDry dehumidifier is installed that filters the air by pulling out any moisture or particles that may try to seep up into the home. Now that this process is completed, the homeowner expressed how satisfied they were with the results and they no longer worry about water getting into their home.
