Servicing Sump Pump; Beaverton, OR
Challenge
The customer had originally had a SmartSump pump and the SaniDry CX dehumidifier installed back in 2008. They had a full encapsulation done to keep water intrusion out of their home. But skipped the checkups for the products until 2013. When their first problem arose, sediment buildup. Which caused the sump pump to fail. This problem arose again due to lack of maintenance again in March of 2019. Giving it six years of buildup, and more problems then they were initially aware of.
Solution
The first service appointment, in 2013, was to install SilverGlo which helps improve heating for the home and to clean out the sump pump. But with that second round of not being maintained it ended in the pump failing completely. Causing the pump to flood, and the dehumidifier had overheated to the point of melting the filter to the system. With it overheating as much as it had, it could have also started a fire.
So our service tech Michael went out and cleaned the entire pump getting it to start again, but installed a new one due to it being ten years old. He also recommended using the SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier, which gets a five-year warranty from installation date and is more energy efficient. Whereas the SaniDry CX only has a 30 month warranty and takes more power to work. Making sure that everything else in check, and safe, Michael reminded the homeowners that the best form of action is to have us come out annually to check up on all the equipment so these things do not happen. As we prefer to stop problems before they arise to improve the longevity of all the products we use.
