Being able to have a stable and fully supported home is essential to ensuring we feel safe. No one wants to experience sagging sub-floors or doors not closing properly because the base isn't supported. A home is held standing by two very important materials: the support beams and wooden posts in the crawl space. Every homeowner should make it a priority at keeping those two things away from moisture at all costs. Because they are only made of wood, if exposed to moisture damage they can absorb the water and it will cause the wood to rot. Once wood experiences water damage water patterns develop which distort and discolor the wood. If wood becomes rotten or splintered it can't be repaired, only replaced, which can be costly. We ensure protection of the wood in the crawl space by installing a CleanSpace vapor barrier between the concrete footing and the wooden posts. This isolates the wooden post and protects against water having access to it. Because the CleanSpace vapor barrier is made with 20 mil thick woven fibers, it has a durability to be tear resistant and really protect the wooden posts for years to come.
This home had a history of water issues. They had done a big structural repair a few years back to replace the damaged wooden beams and posts in the crawl space. Now that a few years had passed, they were ready for their next crawl space investment, a system built to prevent water damage from occurring. For this, they called up John's Waterproofing to get a full encapsulation!
This crawlspace in Beaverton is now used for storage and with the Silverglo insulation the owners no longer have cold wood floors and have no more complaints of drafts.
This crawlspace was wet, humid and had visible heavy mold on the beams. They opted to have the entire space cleaned and treated. This included removing the falling insulation and replacing it with rigid foam insulation, installing drainage, as well as a dehumidifer to keep the space well conditioned and prevent any possible further damage.
This crawlspace was wet, dirty, and unusable before our team got there.
