When an off odor is prevalent, the crawlspace is a good place to check. This space had critter evidence and mold spores growing on the wooden aspects of the foundation. To protect the home, the homeowners decided to have the space encapsulated.
In an attempt to lower energy costs it can be normal to insulate a ducting system in a Crawlspace. However, fiberglass insulation can hold water, leading to mold, and attracts critters who like to use it for bedding. This ducting's insulation was nasty. To ensure their crawlspace was waterproofed and insulated the proper way we removed the damaged fiberglass, and insulated the space with our crawlspace encapsulation.
This homes crawl space had falling fiber glass insulation and was an overall difficult space to enter.
