Water problems in the crawlspace can lead to many issues, including water stains on the old vapor barrier, moldy and drooping fiberglass insulation, and a build up of calcium deposits. To combat these issues, this homeowner decided to have a full encapsulation, turning their crawlspace into a dry and healthy space!
This crawlspace was damp and muddy. The dried mud was caked over the old vapor barrier and water was seeping through the foundation walls. This water content had caused the old fiberglass insulation to droop, leading to mold spores and a reduced insulation value. To address all of the spaces repair needs, we installed a full encapsulation system.
This customer was referred to us by a local company because when their tech went to make repairs under the home it was so damp and a strong musty smell. Our crews went in and cleaned out the crawlspace and cleaned the mold. We installed our CleanSpace vapor barrier that is a 20 mil thick woven fiber plastic. We use this to completely seal the crawlspace to keep unwanted pests, moisture, and other alignments out. The customer was so happy to see how clean it was and that she won’t have to worry about mold in the crawlspace again.
Underneath this home the fiber glass in their crawlspace was torn apart and the old vapor barrier had been compromised by water vapor causing piles of dirt and debris to pile right on top of it. This naturally opens up the space for mold and creates unsafe air quality in the home. To help this customer, we installed a full encapsulation system which made the crawlspace much brighter, easier to maintain, and helps the air quality in the home become fresh and healthy.
Encapsulating with CleanSpace and adding our Spray foam insulation leaves this crawlspace dry and warm for years to come.
