Finished Daylight Basement with Mold in Kelso, WA
Challenge
This homes daylight basement had been finished a few years prior. However, there was now an odd smell coming from the drywall. To check out the issue, the lower section of the wall was removed, and water mold was found. The homeowners knew they needed to stop the water issue so they could keep the home dry and healthy.
Solution
To solve the issue we began by removing the damaged portions of the finished basement. Once it was cleaned out we began to waterproof. We dug a trench along the interior parameter and installed a WaterGuard drainage system. This collects the groundwater and grades it to a newly installed TripleSafe Sump Pump. From here, water is sent out and away from the homes foundation. We then installed our ThermalDry radiant barrier along the walls to both insulate and waterproof the space. The homeowners wanted to finish the space on their own from here, and so the rest of the finishing was left to the homeowners.
