Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: How to Control Water in the Basement - Portland, OR
This homeowner went down to their basement and found that their stairs had been completely destroyed due to water damage. They inspected further and found cracks in their foundation walls where water had been seeping through. This was an issue because water can cause structural damage to your home and weaken your foundation. They reached out to John's Waterproofing to discuss their options. They agreed that doing a basement waterproofing was the perfect solution to save their basement and the integrity of the homes foundation. Our crew knew the first step would be installing a drainage system so water would have a safe passageway to be pushed out of the home. This is done using a WaterGuard drainage system. We install this beneath the concrete floors along the interior perimeter of the basement. We lay gravel around the WaterGuard to filter the water and then flatly cover it so it goes unnoticeable. Then, a discharge line is hooked up to a drain system that can control where the water flows and direct it away from the homes foundation. Once the drainage system is installed, along the foundation walls we install BrightWall. BrightWall is made of a waterproof material that doesn't mold. It acts as a barrier so that no water can seep through and instead be directed downwards to the drainage system. We ensure it has access to the drainage system to prevent any water from seeping through by shingling it to the WaterGuard. This basement waterproofing process creates a safe passageway for water to be pushed away from the home, while also providing a clean look for the homeowner to enjoy. As a final step we installed a SaniDry dehumidifier which ensures the moisture content in the air is kept at a healthy level.
