When it comes to basements, we often see issues with water seeping through the porous spots in concrete. These small water leeks can cause some expensive energy costs as heat and cooled air can permeate into the home. This also poses a big issue for any homeowners who hope to one day finish their basement.
Since most basements are made from concrete, the foundation itself doesn't do much to protect against water intrusion. Sadly, it is not common for a contractor to install a waterproofing system to the exterior of a home as it is built, and so as a home ages, water will find a way in. Without a waterproofing system in place this often means seeping through the gaps, cracks, and holes that get made as the water pressure is forced onto a home throughout the years.
Fortunately, our teams here at John's Waterproofing have a perfect solution for this common problem. The ThermalDry Wall System drains wall seepage into a perimeter drain, stops water vapor, and reflects heat back into the basement space. ThermalDry wall covering is a poly sheet material with a 'bubble wrap' texture on one side and reflective foil on the other. The foil side of the wall faces inward towards the space and reflects the heat back into the living space. It reduces the amount of heat lost to bare basement walls and also creates an effective moisture/vapor barrier which helps control humidity.
ThermalDry can be installed over poured concrete, concrete blocks, or stone foundation walls. It is installed securely with plastic, press in fasteners and can usually be installed in one day depending on the job.
When installed by John's Waterproofing, your new system comes with a 10-year warranty. The Thermal Dry wall covering also works perfectly with our Total Basement Finishing Products and can leave your basement waterproofed, energy effective, and looking new and beautiful.
