High Humidity In the Crawlspace - Oregon City, OR
Challenge
This homes crawlspace had high humidity issues. These were causing the old 6 Mil vapor barrier to hold standing water, water logged fiberglass to fall to pieces, as well as the crawlspace entryway had water mold creeping onto the surrounding carpeting. The homeowners had done some deep cleaning around the interior crawlspace entry, but after noticing the issue coming back so quickly, they knew there was a real problem and they would need to contact the experts.
Solution
Our installation crew arrived and began by removing the old fiberglass insulation, the damaged vapor barrier, as well as the other debris. Once the space was cleared out we applied Mold X2 to the wooden foundation as needed. Due to the spaces high humidity, mold spores were present and dealt with. We then installed a TripleSafe sump pump in the lowest spot, this will collect the groundwater and send it safely out and away from the home. Next we laid TerraBlock along the dirt floor to insulate. Then our CleanSpace vapor barrier was brought in. This 20 Mil woven material is inserted under each wooden post, anchored along the walls under the rim joist, and fully sealed into place. We then sealed up the vents, added in a SaniDry dehumidifier and insulated the foundation walls with spray foam. The Mold X2 will eliminate the old mold problem and the waterproofing system can now ensure the mold can't come back.
