Critters in the Crawl Space - Sherwood, OR
Challenge
When critters can gain access to a crawl space, it can lead to many different issues. This can include burrowing into old fiberglass for housing, droppings, chew marks on a 6 mil vapor barrier, and damaged crawl space vents. This home had multiple signs of a rodent issue. The homeowners had the issue addressed through a pest company before, but the issue did come back. Wanting to deter critters from getting under the home, the homeowners decided to get a full encapsulation.
Solution
Our encapsulation is a great way to deter critters from getting back under the home. To begin, all of the fiberglass, 6 mil, and debris are cleared out. We install a full drain system with a sump pump to ensure water is safely led away from the home. TerraBlock insulation is laid over the dirt floor and we seal the vents shut. CleanSpace is then installed. This is a 20 Mil woven vapor barrier, the woven fibers deter critters from chewing through it, and this is backed with a 25 year warranty against rips and tears. This seals into place so critters wont be able to just slip through the seams. We then apply spray foam along the walls to both insulate and air seal. A Dehumidifier is then installed to ensure mold and mildew will not grow here.
