Falling insulation in Lyons crawlspace
Challenge
We came into a wet crawlspace that had a little bit of standing water in it. The vapor barrier was torn and the fiber glass insulation was falling from absorbing water which added on more weight than it could bear.
Solution
Our crew came in and dried out the space, removed all the fallen insulation and various debris and installed a clean space encapsulation system with a drain system, sump pump and dehumidifier, then we did a spray foam insulation on the walls. Doing this will keep out any water intrusion and moisture, help insulate the space, clean and dry the air in the crawlspace, and keep the space a constant relative humidity which prevents the growth of microorganisms and keeps energy costs down.
