Mold Problems Photo Album: Mold Infested Crawl Space - Tualatin, OR
This homeowner started noticing a strange smell in their home and decided they wanted to figure out where it was coming from. Upon inspecting the crawl space, they were shocked to find that their entire crawl space was infested with mold from a torn vapor barrier and damaged fiberglass insulation. They reached out to John's Waterproofing about fixing the massive issue occurring underneath their home and agreed that a full encapsulation would be necessary. First, the torn vapor barrier and falling fiberglass insulation needed to be removed. The removal process helped take out some of the mold problem, but we did go in with Moldx, a spot treatment, to ensure there was none still there. We then installed a drainage system utilizing a perforated pipe that connects to a SuperSump Plus system. This type of sump pump is capable of collecting water from the perforated pipe and sending it safely away from the homes foundation. Then, a 3/4 in. thick insulation foam, TerraBlock, is installed across the entire base of the crawl space. On top of that, a CleanSpace vapor barrier is installed along the base of crawl space and between the footing and wooden posts to protect against rot. The SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier is installed to pull the moisture out of the air and control the environment. Lastly, Spray Foam is applied to each of the foundation walls to properly insulate and air seal the space. The customer was incredibly impressed with the results and felt much safer in their home.
