Insulation That Won't Mold - Bend, OR

This homes crawl space had mold growing in the old fiberglass and along the wooden beams. The homeowners had looked into mold treatment, but knew that even with the mold treated, without addressing the crawl space as a whole, mold was bound to come back. To ensure the space remained healthy, they would need to encapsulate. They called up John's Waterproofing and were ready to go. We switched out the fiberglass for a system using TerraBlock insulation along the dirt floors and Spray foam along the walls. We also installed a SaniDry dehumidifier to keep the air at a healthy humidity level where mold and mildew cannot grow.

The Difference an Encapsulation Makes for Your Crawl Space - Canby, OR

Did you know that when doors don't shut properly in your home that can indicate there's a moisture issue in the crawl space? Sometimes even when you start noticing strange smells that it could be from what's going on beneath your home? At John's Waterproofing, we offer homeowners solutions to various home problems by doing encapsulations. The encapsulation process is designed to completely seal your crawl space off from the earth and control the environment. Helping to prevent mold growth and potential structural damage. The fist step of an encapsulation is to install a drainage system. This is important in order to control the passage of water and keep it from seeping into the crawl space. We install a perforated pipe along the interior perimeter and connect it to a SuperSump Plus sump pump that collects any water and safely pushes it away from the homes foundation. Next, an encapsulation involves installing TerraBlock. This is a thick insulation foam that seals the earth off from the home. The exposure to dirt in the crawl space can cause moisture to get in and make your home less energy efficient. By installing TerraBlock, and having that separation from dirt and the home, it can control the environment in the crawl space and help with energy costs so that your heating/cooling systems don't have to work as hard to keep up with the constant changes in the outside air. We then install a CleanSpace vapor barrier that is a 20 mil thick liner that helps prevent moisture from seeping into the crawl space and getting into the air. We install this vapor barrier up along the foundation walls to the rim joists so that every space is protected and it can help guide water to the drainage system to be pushed away. The entire encapsulation process is designed to control the environment in the crawl space so that it can stay dry and the homeowners can enjoy a healthy living space.
