This customer found a big mess in their crawlspace with falling insulation, water, rodent infestation and mold. To address the issue we installed a full encapsulation. 

This homes old 6 Mil vapor barrier was holding up generally well against the groundwater, however, the space suffered from high humidity, leaving the fiberglass insulation water heavy and falling out of place. The only real way to insulate a crawlspace and protect your home is a full encapsulation. This properly insulated the space, and waterproofs it, keeping your home dry and healthy. 

This homes insulation tended to absorb moisture and droop. The homeowners would have to reattach and change out the fiberglass whenever their floorboard began to feel cold and their heating and cooling costs began to rose. To address this issue, the homeowners wanted a long term solution. They moved forward with a full encapsulation which uses both TerraBlock and Spray Foam to insulate the crawlspace. The homeowners are so happy that their insulation is addressed properly now. 

One of the biggest steps of the encapsulation process is removing all the damaged fiberglass insulation. This can become an issue because once the insulation absorbs the moisture in the air, it increases the exposure to mold and mildew growth. Additionally, once the insulation gets to this point and is sagging from the sub-floor it isn't adding any benefits for the home in controlling heat loss. In fact, it actually makes the home less energy efficient and cost homeowners more in energy bills. By encapsulating the crawl space and adding TerraBlock insulation, it helps improve your homes health by sealing off the earth beneath. TerraBlock is a 3/4 inch thick foam that is cut to perfectly fit each individual crawl space and create a barrier from the outside. This reduces heat loss by keeping the crawl space around the same temperature year round and the heating/cooling systems don't have to work as hard to keep up.
