Flooding is definitely the easiest way to determine a water issue is happening. This homeowner noted a damp and musty smell coming from their crawlspace. They opened the crawlspace entryway in one of their closets and could see standing water throughout the space. They had seen John's trucks go through town and gave us a call. Our crew began with a full dry out of the space and cleared it of the debris, fiberglass, and old vapor barrier. Mold X 2 was applied as needed and we installed a full encapsulation to protect this home. 

This homes crawl space was damp, water was found pooling on the old vapor barrier with the fiberglass insulation falling from the subfloor and off of the pipes and HVAC system. To get the space dry and healthy, the homeowners chose to have the space encapsulated.  

This homeowner had an allergy to mold and dust mites, both of which can grow and prosper in a nasty damp crawl space. Knowing that their living spaces were dry and healthy they turned their attention under foot. Their crawl space hadn't been properly maintained in years, and it was a mess. To make this space healthy, thus healthier air for the living spaces, the homeowner wanted to learn about encapsulation. We went over the many health benefits, and the homeowner moved forward with an encapsulation and an Aspen air purifier. 

When preparing to sell a home, it is best to have everything tuned-up before listing, making the home more enticing to buyers. We frequently get calls from homeowners wanting to have their crawl space cleaned up before showings begin. For this job, our Real Estate Response Team purposed a Pipe, Pump, and Plastic. The crew began by removing all of the old debris from inside of the crawl space, leaving the area completely bare. A full interior drain system was installed with pipes within a silt sock. This collects water and channels it to the sump pump to be dispelled away from the home via an underground discharge line. Next, they carefully laid down a fresh 6 Mil Black Plastic Vapor Barrier to cover the entire dirt floor of the crawl space, with all edges overlapping - leaving no gaps in coverage. The pipe and pump portion of the project ensure stagnant water is no longer a pest harming the crawl space environment. And this new Vapor Barrier is nice and shiny, appealing to prospective buyers. With their crawl space now clean, this family has a "leg-up" in selling their home, and one less hurdle to jump over during the negotiating process with their buyer.
